Recently, we have released the Calterah Indoor Human Point Cloud SDK based on the Rhine mmWave radar SoCs. Integrating Calterah’s proprietary indoor human sensing application components, the SDK can output rich and high-quality point cloud data with strong cohesion and powerful sensing capabilities, for both moving and stationary human targets. With the SDK, customers can develop high-performance indoor mmWave radar products to expand new indoor applications of mmWave radar.
Nowadays, mmWave radar technology is rapidly gaining traction as the preferred option for indoor human detection applications. It is empowering many aspects of smart life, owing to its remarkable advantages including strong privacy protection, contactless sensing, and precise detection capabilities, as well as its rich functions of vital sign monitoring, human tracking, posture recognition, etc.
To facilitate users to utilize Rhine mmWave radar SoCs to expand the market of indoor mmWave radar applications including smart home, smart elderly care, and intelligent office, Calterah unveiled an indoor human point cloud SDK based on its Rhine mmWave radar SoCs. The newly-released SDK uses the Rhine SDK architecture and integrates indoor human sensing application components. Thanks to the radar signal processing baseband integrated in Rhine SoCs and Calterah’s proprietary indoor radar signal processing algorithms, the indoor human sensing application components can yield rich and high-quality point clouds with powerful perception. These point clouds boast strong cohesion for upper-level applications to better differentiate human targets, and the ability to depict the postures and movements of human bodies, facilitating advanced indoor radar to achieve more sophisticated functions, including fall detection and gesture recognition.
Rich, High-Quality, and Highly-Cohesive Point Clouds with Powerful Sensing of Moving and Stationary Human Target
When one human target passes by another, two distinct point clusters are displayed.
Even with multiple human targets, the radar device can output distinct point clusters of all targets.
Along the radar normal line or in a large-angle direction, the longest detection range for stationary human targets is 11 m* (the longest unambiguous detection range).
In a large-angle direction, the longest detection range for moving human targets is 9 m*.
Diverse Indoor mmWave Radar Applications Enabled by Rhine SoCs
With the Calterah Indoor Human Point Cloud SDK, despite lacking experience in mmWave radar development, customers can utilize Rhine mmWave radar SoCs to develop competitive indoor mmWave radar products for a diverse range of application scenarios:
With the newly-released Calterah Indoor Human Point Cloud SDK, we stand ready to work with customers to expand the market of indoor mmWave radar applications. Going forward, we will continue to use more leading-edge and higher-performance mmWave radar technologies to fulfill our corporate social responsibilities and empower smart life, living our mission to “Make Millimeter-Wave Serve Everyone”.
*The detection range is enabled by Rhine AiP SoCs.
