Earth Hour is an energy-saving movement initiated by the WWF against global climate change. It calls for individuals, communities, businesses, and governments to turn off non-essential electric lights and home appliances for an hour, at 20:30 local time on the last Saturday of every March (Mar. 25 for 2023), to show support for the planet and to raise awareness of environmental issues. The world’s first Earth Hour began on Saturday, 31 March 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and has now grown into the largest global environmental movement that enjoys enthusiastic participation. This year, Earth Hour is given a greater purpose, uniting the power of participants from all walks of life for “The Biggest Hour for Earth” and pushing for changes to secure a brighter future for mankind and the planet. Green Week of Calterah-ers In response to the 2023 theme “Give an Hour for Earth”, Calterah launched the Green Week event from Mar. 20 to 26.
