Calterah was invited to the forum Homegrown Chips ‧ Future of Intelligent Driving on the development of chips for intelligent driving co-organized by Leapmotor and 21st Century Business Herald on Oct. 27. On Oct. 28, 2020, awarding ceremony of Gasgoo Awards 2020 organized by Gasgoo.com was held in Shanghai. With expert review and millions of votes in 90 days, the Awards including Influential Figure 2020 had finally come to a completion. To award his dedication to R&D, branding and quality, and outstanding contribution to the automotive industry and society at large, Dr Chen Jiashu, CEO of Calterah Semiconductor, was honored with Influential Figure 2020 of Gasgoo Awards. Dr Chen earned his PhD degree in Electric Engineering from University of California, Berkeley. On August 27, at the third China IC Unicorn Forum of the World Semiconductor Conference 2020, the results of China IC Unicorns 2019 were announced, and an award ceremony followed. Capable of detecting subtleties, mmWave radar can sense fine motions of the objects, which enables itself to detect vital signs such as respiration and heartbeat in a relatively long range and therefore to obtain real-time respiration rates and heart rates without body contact. Breathing causes micromotions in the chest and abdomen, which can be sensed by mmWave radar and translated into breath rates information. This also applies to heart rate monitoring. Market demand and challenges of USRR Auto driving and advanced driving assistance systems generally consist of sensing, controlling and actuation. Sensing relies on sensors of all sorts such as mmWave radar, cameras, laser radar and ultra sound wave. Front long-range radar and corner radar are applications of mmWave radar that we are familiar with. They are employed in highway and urban road driving scenarios to realize functions like ACC, AEB, BSD and LCA. The Alps family of SoC chips that Calterah brought about in 2019 well facilitates the development and realization of these two kinds of radar. The following scenarios are no strangers to us: In peak hours, roads are combusted with vehicles. Positioning will be much harder when there is an obstacle above the vehicle, an overpass for instance. In a big parking lot, there is trouble finding space and parking a car. The absence of separation of pedestrians and vehicle leads to a greater chance of traffic accidents. Recently, TÜV Rheinland issued ISO 26262 Functional Safety Management Certificate to Calterah Semiconductor, making Calterah one of the two fabless design houses in China semiconductor industry that has achieved this certification. Covering the functional safety requirement planning, design, implementation, integration, verification, confirmation measures and configuration, ISO 26262 series of automotive functional safety standards is one of the market thresholds for E/E part suppliers to enter the automotive industry, with the aim of minimizing the risks from automotive E/E system failures through comprehensive development processes. ISO 26262 series of standards provides a risk-based approach to determine automotive safety integrity levels (ASILs). There are four ASILs defined, ASIL A, B, C and D, with D representing the highest level and A the lowest level.
