Calterah Awarded “Most Influential Auto Chip” at China Automotive Chip Conference 2023

2023-07-27

From July 26 to 27, the General Assembly of China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance and China Automotive Chip Conference 2023 were held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, where Calterah was awarded “Most Influential Auto Chip” for its Alps family of mmWave radar SoC chips.

Under the organization of China Automotive Chip Alliance and National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center, vehicle OEMs, automotive electronics manufacturers, and automotive software companies nationwide were invited to vote for and present the award to self-developed automotive chip products that have been mass-produced and applied to vehicles. This award achieved by Calterah not only represents the recognition by China Automotive Chip Alliance and OEMs but also demonstrates that Calterah’s Alps mmWave radar SoCs are technologically advanced and innovative, with strong market competitiveness and a wide customer base.

Alps Family of Fully Integrated mmWave Radar SoC Chips

The award-winning Alps family is Calterah’s second-generation auto-grade chip product and also the fully integrated CMOS mmWave radar SoC that Calterah took the lead to roll out, which fully innovates the development and implementation of mmWave radar sensors. Integrating a 2T4R/4T4R transceiver, a highly configurable FMCW generator, high-speed ADCs, a radar signal processing baseband, and a high-performance processor, Alps SoCs enable more cost-effective radar systems with simplified module designs. Moreover, Alps SoCs had been certified as ASIL-B fully compliant by TÜV Rheinland in 2021, as China’s first to have obtained the ISO 26262 full compliance certification.

The Alps family includes standard SoCs and AiP (Antenna-in-Package) SoCs. The Alps AiP SoC, the world’s first  mass-produced 77 GHz radar AiP SoC, has accelerated the application of mmWave radar in the auto market since it better meets the requirements for short-range and ultra-short-range radar by substantially reducing difficulties and costs for developing radar. The cost-effective and high-performance Alps family of SoCs are compact in size and easy to use with low power consumption, helping customers to accelerate the time to market by shortening development cycles and reducing time investment and costs.

Calterah’s Most Popular SoC Enabling Various Auto Radar Applications

Calterah’s Alps SoCs can cover a comprehensive set of solutions for medium- and long-range radar, short-range radar, and ultra-short-range radar and enable applications of corner radar, side radar, tail gate radar, and so on. For now, Calterah has shipped over 5 million units of radar ICs accumulatively and these SoCs have been employed by more than 150 passenger vehicle models globally. Most of the chips shipped are from the Alps family, which not only helps vehicles achieve better target detection in complex scenarios but also expands the application scenarios of mmWave radar.

At the end of 2022, Calterah released the new SoC product Alps-Pro based on the Alps platform, which inherits the advantages of Alps and can cover L2/L2+ ADAS applications. Furthermore, Calterah’s next-gen mmWave radar SoC family Andes is designed for 4D premium and imaging radar applications, capable of fulfilling the requirements of L3+ ADAS. With higher performance, Calterah’s Alps-Pro and Andes can empower vehicles to achieve autonomous driving capabilities of higher levels, contributing to safer and smarter driving experiences.
