Calterah Andes Chips Achieve ISO 26262 Functional Safety Product Certification
2026-03-31

On March 19, 2026, Calterah Andes mmWave radar chips (CAL77C844-AR and CAL77C644-AR) officially achieved the ISO 26262 ASIL-B functional safety product certification, after passing the rigorous assessment by TÜV Rheinland.

ISO 26262 ASIL-B Certificate for Calterah Andes Family
TÜV Rheinland conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Andes mmWave radar chip family, confirming that it fully complies with ISO 26262 ASIL-B requirements across all aspects—including safety management, safety requirements, architectural design, detailed design and implementation, simulation verification, safety analysis, etc. With this certification, the Andes chip family has met the stringent requirements of ISO 26262 in protection against both systematic faults and hardware random failures.
Calterah Andes Family: Imaging Radar Chip for Advanced Automotive Sensing
Calterah Andes automotive radar SoCs with RoP® (Radiator on Package) integrate a multi-core CPU, a DSP, and Calterah’s proprietary Radar Signal Processor (RSP). Offering superior signal processing performances, these chips are designed for forward-looking radar and imaging radar applications.

The Andes chip family is designed with comprehensive diagnostic mechanisms across all modules, including power supply, RF circuits, analog circuits, processors, memory units, Network on Chip (NoC), and cascading communication. These mechanisms ensure the chips meet functional safety metrics such as SPFM*, LFM*, and PMHF*, forming the safety cornerstone of the Andes products.
* SPFM: Single-point fault metric
* LFM: Latent fault metric
* PMHF: Probabilistic metric for random hardware failures
By cascading two Andes RoP® chips, Calterah’s premium 8T8R imaging radar solution, working with waveguide antennas, significantly enhances detection range and angular resolution. The solution supports accurate 4D measurement, stable detection of weak targets, and high-density point cloud output. With industry-leading radar imaging performances, the solution enables precise depiction of vehicles, non-motorized vehicles, and pedestrians in complex urban environments. In field tests, the Andes premium 8T8R imaging radar solution detects the height of a gantry accurately at a range of over 300 meters, stably detects a traffic cone 100-plus meters away, and clearly distinguishes between road barriers and a pedestrian next to the barriers. The solution has already been adapted for mass production by leading automotive Tier-1s, poised to empower advanced automotive sensing.
Achieving functional safety is a systematic engineering feat that spans the entire lifecycle of chip design, verification, and production. Since its inception, Calterah has established a functional safety system compliant with ISO 26262, which covers both hardware and software development and is deeply integrated with ASPICE and cybersecurity systems, providing customers with comprehensive safety support. Over time, this functional safety system has been validated with successive certifications. Back in 2021, Calterah Alps family of chips became the first chips in China to have fully complied with ISO 26262 and received third-party certification. In 2023, the low-level driver software of Alps-Pro chips obtained an ISO 26262 certification from TÜV NORD. Recently, the Andes chip family has successfully passed the certification assessment by TÜV Rheinland. By the end of 2025, Calterah’s cumulative mmWave chip shipments exceeded 20 million units, supporting the safe mass production of over 300 vehicle models from across 30-plus car OEMs.
With its continuously evolving product portfolio, Calterah has demonstrated the maturity of its functional safety system. Calterah’s deep expertise in functional safety and systematic automotive-grade capabilities ensure that every generation of products provides a solid safety guarantee, empowering more reliable intelligent sensing and safer smart mobility.
