Control by Just Pointing! Calterah Dubhe UWB SoCs Enable Air Mice for Both Connectivity and Sensing
2025-08-19
You turn on your TV to watch a show. Yet when searching the show by its name, you have to press the remote buttons over and over again… |
Tired of endless button-pressing on your TV remote? With Calterah’s Dubhe Ultra-Wideband (UWB) SoCs, you can bid farewell to those intricate buttons and enjoy a whole new way of interaction. Air mice enabled by Calterah Dubhe UWB chips break the boundaries of traditional button-based remote controls. With just a light move, users can precisely and intuitively control TVs. Built for connectivity and sensing, the chips will unlock more intelligent interaction scenarios for users.
Air Mice Enabled by Dubhe UWB SoCs for Highly-Efficient Pointing Control
An air mouse system consists of a receiver in the TV and a remote controller, both of which integrate a UWB SoC and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) chip. Air mice for both connectivity and sensing can be developed with Calterah’s latest Dubhe series of UWB SoCs. The series is not only the world’s first IEEE 802.15.4ab-compliant UWB chips, but also China’s first UWB chips officially certified to FiRa® Core 3.0. The Dubhe series includes two versions: CAL1104 (1T4R) and CAL1106 (2T4R), which feature the optimal receiving path sensitivity in the industry and more powerful ranging and angular measurement and offer an ultra-low power consumption mode. In the air mouse system, the Dubhe UWB chip determines pointing positions based on accurate ranging and angular measurement, while the IMU chip further improves pointing precision by capturing the physical orientation changes of the remote control in real time. Together, these two chips achieve complex operations, such as sliding, dragging, pointing and choosing, and even writing and drawing—creating highly-efficient pointing control at your fingertips.
Air Mice Based on Dubhe UWB Chips for Both Connectivity and Sensing
As an added benefit, the high-performance radar sensing function of Dubhe chips can enable detection of human presence and positions in front of the TV, empowering smart air mice for both connectivity and sensing. In the radar mode, if the Dubhe chip detects someone approaching, the TV switches to the art mode automatically, creating a beautiful and relaxing ambiance. Plus, the Dubhe chip can identify human positions relative to the TV, which enables the TV to smartly adjust its picture quality, volume, and other parameters accordingly, fully optimizing the watching experience for users. After users leave, the Dubhe chip accurately determines that no one is in front of the TV and then enables the TV to turn off automatically to save energy.
